We acted as Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and CDM-C for the extension and alteration works to Torbay Hospitals' Accident and Emergency Department.

The improvements made to the existing 'dated' facility included:

• New minor injury treatment area.
• Accommodation for the GP out-of-hours service. This brings out-of-hours hospital and GP services side-by-side and means that emergency back-up is close at hand for the GP service.
• Extra assessment space for patients attending A&E to be examined.
• A new waiting and play area for children attending A&E.
• GP consulting rooms which can double-up as hospital clinic space in-hours.

The works had to be carried out in several phases to enable the existing facility to remain operational and fully functional at all times.

The project was short listed in "The Best Healthcare Project" category in the 2009 LABC South West Regional Awards
